DESCRIPTION:This 3-day course combines ALL the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses. \nCrisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention requiring specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery\, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus\, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid.” Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive\, systematic\, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum\, this course will prepare participants to understand various crisis intervention services for individuals and groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined\, and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions\, specifically demobilizations\, defusing\, and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals\, when necessary\, will also be discussed. \n27 Hours MO POST

SUMMARY:Group Crisis Intervention / Peer Support (OKC\, OK)
DESCRIPTION:GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION is PHASE 2 of the “Initial Peer Support Training” in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and is a 2-day course which prepares the Peer to provide CISM interventions of Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD)\, Defusing\, Crisis Management Briefings (CMB)\, and other strategies useful in Group situations. \nThe need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals post-incident\, when necessary\, will also be discussed during these training courses. \nThis course is designed for Oklahoma First Responders and Mental Health Professionals who assist other First Responders and their families in dealing with job-related Stress and Trauma. \n(NOTE: Prerequisite to attend this Group Crisis Intervention training is a 2-day CISM course titled Assisting Individuals in Crisis. REGISTRATION FOR EACH SPECIFIC COURSE IS REQUIRED if planning to attend both scheduled courses.) \nCLEET CE 16 hr. and 2 hr.
