SUMMARY:Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention (3-day GRIN Course) Hannibal\, MO
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day course combines ALL the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses. \nCrisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention requiring specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery\, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus\, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid.” Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive\, systematic\, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum\, this course will prepare participants to understand various crisis intervention services for individuals and groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined\, and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions\, specifically demobilizations\, defusing\, and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals\, when necessary\, will also be discussed.

SUMMARY:ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS / Peer Support (ARDMORE)
DESCRIPTION:ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS is PHASE 1 of the process to become a trained “Peer Support Responder”. This is a 2-day course of “Initial Peer Support Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) that is intermixed with additional wellness topics for new Peer Support members. This course is the foundation which prepares the student to provide Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions (if needed) during Individual or “1 on 1” interactions. The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals post-incident\, when necessary\, will also be discussed during this training. \nThis course is designed for First Responders and Mental Health Professionals who assist other First Responders and their families in dealing with job-related Stress and Trauma. \nCLEET CE 16 hr and 2 hr MH \n(NOTE: This course is a Prerequisite for Group Crisis Intervention PHASE 2 of peer support training which is also scheduled this week.) \nATTENTION: Due to the frequent requests for this training\, PLEASE notify us if you register for this class but your schedules change\, and you are Not able to attend.
