DESCRIPTION:This 3-day course combines ALL the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses. \nCrisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; rather\, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery\, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus\, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid”. Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive\, systematic\, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum\, this course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services for both the individual and for groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined\, and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions\, specifically demobilizations\, defusing’s\, and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). SUMMARY:Assisting Individuals in Crisis (Weatherford\, OK)
DESCRIPTION:ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS is PHASE 1 of the process required to become a trained “Peer Support Responder”. This is a 2-day course of “Initial Peer Support Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) that is intermixed with additional wellness topics for new Peer Support members. This course is the foundation which prepares the student to provide Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions (if needed) during Individual or “1 on 1” interactions. \nGROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION is PHASE 2 of the “Initial Peer Support Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and will be provided at a later date in this region. GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION is also a 2-day course which prepares the Peer to provide CISM interventions of Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD)\, Defusing\, Crisis Management Briefings (CMB)\, and other strategies useful in Group situations. (NOTE: Prerequisite for Group Crisis Intervention training is the course Assisting Individuals in Crisis shown above.) \nThe need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals post-incident\, when necessary\, will also be discussed during these training courses. \nThis course is designed for First Responders and Mental Health Professionals who assist other First Responders and their families in dealing with job-related Stress and Trauma. \nCLEET CE 16 hr and 2 hr MH \nATTENTION: Due to the frequent requests for this training\, PLEASE notify us if you register for this class but your schedules change and are Not able to attend. DESCRIPTION:Warrior’s Rest Foundation First Responder Mental Health and Wellness Training provides dynamic instructors presenting relevant topics to first responders about traumas experienced from critical incidents. The students will learn from the instructors: \nHow to immediately implement best practices techniques for their mental health as a First Responder \nDiscuss and address the impact of trauma on a First Responder \nDiscuss and implement psychological first aid after the mental health crisis of a critical incident \nLearn how to identify warning signs of suicidal ideation \nDefine and discuss the signs of Post Traumatic Stress Injury and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder \nDiscuss the stigma First Responders face when asking for mental health help \nIdentify healthy coping mechanisms as part of their work/life routine so it will be part of their resiliency when in a mental health crisis \nThis course is recommended to all First Responders\, First Responder Supervisors / Command Staff\, Corrections\, and Dispatchers.
