Assisting Individuals in Crisis (Muskogee, OK)

FreeASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS is PHASE 1 of the process required to become a trained “Peer Support Responder”. This is a 2-day course of “Initial Peer Support Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) that is intermixed with additional wellness topics for new Peer Support members. This course is the foundation that prepares the student to provide Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions (if needed) during Individual or “1 on 1” interactions.
GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION is PHASE 2 of the “Initial Peer Support Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and will be provided at a later date in this region. It is also a two-day course that prepares the Peer to provide CISM interventions of Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD), Defusing, Crisis Management Briefings (CMB), and other strategies useful in Group situations. (NOTE: The prerequisite for Group Crisis Intervention training is the course Assisting Individuals in Crisis, as shown above.)
These training courses will also discuss the need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals post-incident, when necessary.
This course is designed for First Responders and Mental Health Professionals who assist other First Responders and their families in dealing with job-related Stress and Trauma.
