“BASIC PEER SUPPORT”

4-days of “Basic Peer Training” / Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) that combines ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS (a 2-day course) and GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION (another 2-day course) that is intermixed with additional wellness topics for new Peer Support members.

ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS in CRISIS trains the peer to provide Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions (if needed) during Individual or “1 on 1” interactions.

GROUP CRISIS INTERVENTION prepares the Peer to provide CISM interventions of Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD), Defusing, Crisis Management Briefings (CMB), etc. in Group situations. (NOTE: PREREQUISITE for Group Crisis Intervention training is the course Assisting Individuals in Crisis shown above.)

The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals, when necessary, will also be discussed.

This course is designed for First Responders and Mental Health Professionals who assist First Responders and their families in dealing with job-related Stress and Trauma.
